History Titbit – Bluecoats

On the London to Bath Road stands a lovely little building called Bluecoats.  You know, it’s the small, tired-looking building that stands on the left of the road, where the recent roadworks have been completed (moving the left turn for Cold Ash and Upper Bucklebury)?

Well, it’s a Grade 1 listed building and one of the oldest in West Berkshire.  It is over 700 years old and has had several changes of use – from a chapel to a school and an antique shop.

I will be writing a blog dedicated to it later, however in the meantime, check out the charity that has the task of raising funds for it.  You can find them at: http://www.oldbluecoatschool.org.uk/Old_Bluecoat_School,_Thatcham/Welcome.html
